Funeral services for Dorotha Marie Houston, 92, of Edgewood, were held Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. Burial followed at Haven of Memories in Canton.
Dorotha passed away on Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, in Burleson.
Dorotha Marie Killingsworth was born on Feb. 3, 1928, to parents Thomas Alvin Killingsworth and Mary Elizabeth Carpenter Killingsworth. She was raised in the Denton and Dallas areas and graduated from Adamson High School. Dorotha married Charles Alford Houston on Jan. 16, 1954, in Dallas. She and Charles lived in the metroplex before moving to Edgewood to make their home in 1983, when Charles retired from LTV. Dorotha was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, playing piano and gardening and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Edgewood.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Killingsworth; husband, Charles Houston and sister, Alvena Hutson.
Dorotha is survived by her son, Phil Houston of Dallas; daughter, Monell Weatherly and husband, Mike of Itasca; sister, Elena Low of Gun Barrel City; grandchildren, Cymbre Kooker and husband, Justin of Elmo, Pierce Weatherly and wife, Janelle of New Jersey, Choyce Weatherly and wife, Devan of Magnolia, Connor Houston of Vicenza, Italy, and Caitlin Smith of Canada, and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held one hour prior to service time.
