Effie Jean Lee, a longtime resident of Wills Point, went to be with the Lord Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, in Greenville at Hunt Regional Medical Center.

Effie was born March 30, 1945, to Mattie Mae Hattaway Jones and Emery Ewel Griffin in Coffee County, Alabama. She grew up in Columbus, Georgia. Effie married the love of her life, James Lee, Sept. 2, 1962. She worked as an administrative assistant at Eastfield College in Mesquite, until retiring in 2010. Effie loved dancing and gambling. She held charities close to her heart and enjoyed volunteering through various organizations. A memory her family will always hold dear is cruising with Effie.

To cherish her memories, she leaves behind her daughter, Jenny Burchfield and husband, Frank; sisters, Sue and husband, Rex Hill, and Glenda Enlow; sister-in-law, Rosetta Shuck; grandchildren, Jessica and Robert Still, Teresa Thomas, Nathan Burchfield, Jennifer and Daniel Dockens, Brandy Hogan, Chris and Ashley Oferosky, Alicia and John Foster, Mary and Sol Brown, Robert Oferosky, Christopher Lee, Desiree Lee and Austin Lee; along with many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by parents, Cecil and Mattie Jones; her loving husband, Jim Lee; children, Patricia Oferosky, Christopher Shawn Lee, and Jimmy Lee; and sister, Rita Check.

A funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home.

Burial followed the funeral service at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point.
