Weight Loss Group Celebrates Success
The Quinlan TOPS Club is celebrating some success among club members as members reach ideal weight and maintain it.
Taking Off Pounds Sensibly is a weight loss support group organized in Quinlan in the 1980s. Upon joining TOPS, a member is given a healthy weight goal by a physician and works toward the goal. There is a weigh-in at each weekly meeting and weight loss is rewarded by wearing charms for bracelets, necklaces, and other small gifts. When a TOPS member achieves goal weight, the member becomes a KOPS (Keeping Off Pounds Sensibly). After becoming a KOPS, weight must be maintained within 10 pounds of the goal or KOPS status is lost.
The Quinlan club has four KOPS members. These members will be celebrated at a state convention in San Marcus this coming April.
