WTEDC awards Façade Grants

The West Tawakoni Economic Development Corporation (WTEDC) awarded three façade improvement grants Monday night at its regular monthly meeting.

WTEDC President Pete Hoyt announced the award of Façade Grants in the amount of $2,500 each to Samson Kesime, owner of Margie’s Grocery; Staci Thomas, owner of Lakeside Tax and Bookkeeping; and Lamont Jenkins, commander of VFW Post 2559.

Kesime and Thomas received grant checks at the meeting. Also attending was Frank Slovacek, former owner of Margie’s Grocery. Kesime and Slovacek said the West Tawakoni landmark business would retain the Margie’s name. Slovacek said the business was 50 years old. Fork and Spoon Restaurant is also located in the center.

• In other business, Director Jim Turnipseed reported on the success of the weekend’s Cabela’s King Kat Tournament in the absence of Director and Tournament Chairman Jenkins.
