FHS History students advance to State

Each year thousands of students statewide participate in the National History Day program in Texas.

Under the leadership of W.H. Ford High School History Department Chairman Maxey Hooks, 13 students traveled to a regional contest on Feb. 27 at Texas A&M Commerce with their projects for Texas History Day.

Texas History Day, an affiliate of NHD is a highly regarded academic program for sixth- through 12th-grade students.

“The students did very well and several brought home medals who will advance to the state NHD competition held at the end April,” said Hooks.

FHS contestants at Regional History Day include Emily Bermudez, Laighla Gassner, Sabina Ayala, Pathik Bhakta, Jordan Cummings, James Carney, Kamie Lee, Jonathan Morris Adrianna Jones, Madison Smith, Victoria Castruita, Trinity Hart and Bryce Sandman.
