Eagle Scout goal for Drace Mizell

Boles senior mounts enormous project

A 17-year-old Boles Independent School District senior has undertaken an enormous project in efforts to secure the Boy Scouts of America’s pinnacle award — Eagle Scout designation.

Drace Mizell is landscaping Hornet Alley by the football stadium as a waiting area for students. Drace is the son of David and Glyzl Mizell

He said he had discussed looking for an Eagle Scout project with Supt. Dr. Graham Sweeney, and Sweeney had mentioned the need for a waiting area for students outside.

“I thought of safe alternative to help out,” Mizell said.

He plans to build and add benches, table, planter boxes, lay flagstone and re-landscape the entry of Hornet Alley. All funds, materials and labor have been donated by local businesses.

He has secured Lowe’s, Covington’s Nursery, D. Earl’s Tax Service, Mizell’s Tree Service, Tropical John’s Landscaping and others as sponsors.
