Panthers close in on playoff berth

Fulbright leads team, district stats; fifth in state on batters struck out

District baseball is winding down and the Quinlan Ford Panthers are inching closer to their first playoff berth since 2000.

Assistant Coach Matt Wingo said the district matchup at Community at press time on Tuesday, April 18, was huge for playoff implications.

The Panthers are 8-12 in season play and 4-5 in District 12-4A. They had three remaining games in the district schedule — April 18 at Community, April 21 vs. Caddo Mills and April 25 at Kaufman with playoffs to be decided.

Dustin Fulbright leads the Panthers in many categories as well as holding a place among the leaders in the district.

Fulbright leads the district in slugging percentage (.628), runs (12), on base percentage (.600), and batters struck out (64), which also puts him as fifth best in the state for batters struck out in 4A to go along with a 1.97 ERA.
