No human West Nile cases reported in Hunt County

“There aren’t any human West Nile cases at the present time in Hunt County,” said Hunt County Health Department Medical Manager Pam Andrews.

In fact, the only arbovirus activity in Hunt County during the first 30 weeks of 2017 are two incidents in mosquitos, according to the table of statewide activity for that period, supplied by Ms. Andrews.

The City of Greenville announced spraying operations recently after mosquitos in the Old Mill and Ridgecrest areas of Greenville tested positive.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states on its website that only about one in 150 people infected with West Nile virus (WNV) will develop a severe illness.
