East Tawakoni finishes up budget, tax work

East Tawakoni finished up its budget and tax rate work for next year’s finances Tuesday night at its regular monthly meeting.

The council adopted its 2018 budget that totals $1,473,900 and set the tax rate at 0.590300 per $100 valuation.

Expenditures planned in the budget include the general fund, $396,200; water and sewer, $814,200; and debt service, $263,500.

The budget expenses compare with earlier years — fiscal year 2015, $1,443,954.17; FY 2016, $1,464,200; and FY 2017, $1,452,855.

The tax rate was set at 0.5903 that includes 0.3807 for maintenance and operations; and 0.2096 for principal and interest on bonds.

The tax rate adopted was the same as this year’s rate. The same rate this year will increase taxes by 1.426117 percent.

Jill Williams was administered the oath of office by Mayor Johnnie LaPrade as a member of the East Tawakoni Economic Development Corporation.

All members of the council were present except David Rose.
