Panther cross country teams compete at Region

Both Quinlan Ford Panther boys and girls cross country teams achieved success this season and ended the season Monday, Oct. 23, with a good showing at the 4A Region 2 Meet.

Coach Paul Phlieger said, “This has been the third year in a row the boys have qualified as a team for the meet, and I couldn’t be more proud of a group of young men as I am of this year’s team.”

The team finished 11th overall of 24 teams in the region. Personal places included Enrique Serrano, 25th; Jose Sanchez, 47th; Landon Hoff, 88th; Evan Konopka, 96th; Sabastion Boyett, 144th; Jordan Cummings, 162nd; and Alan Landazuri, 175th place.

Coach Stacey Wallen said, “To say that I am proud of these girls is an understatement. This was the first time in at least 15 years that the girls have qualified for a Regional meet. And with only one senior on the team, I believe that there is more success down the road for these remarkable young ladies.”

The team finished 18th out of 24 teams in the region. Personal places include Savannah Moreno, 54th; Arely Rivas, 113th; Madison Harrison, 115th; Mariely Aguillon, 134th; Sofia Garcia, 145th; Ariel Forsyth, 167th; and Trinity Hart, 170th.

Wallen said, “All of these young ladies ran their best times of the year.”
