Panthers 3rd at Rains tourney

The Quinlan Ford Panthers finished in third place Tuesday, Nov. 21, in the Rains Tournament, according to Assistant Coach Matt Wingo.

The Panthers finished the second game Tuesday with a 44-39 win over the Rains Wildcats.

Quinlan led 12-7 after the first quarter and scored 10 to Rains’ 11 in the second for a halftime score of 22-18. The Panthers scored 6 in the third period to the Wildcats’ 7 for a score of Quinlan 28-25. The Panthers finished in the fourth with 16 points to 14 for the Wildcats.

Preston House was top Panther scorer with 16 points. Mark Eastin’s, also scoring in the double digits, added 11 point.

Quinlan lost to the Royse City Bulldogs 49-51 earlier Tuesday.

The Panthers trailed 8-19 in the first quarter but came back in the second to switch the exact scoring as the first with 19 to the Bulldogs 8 and tie the score for halftime. The Panthers scored 12 to the Bulldogs’ 15 in the third and put up 10 points in the fourth to the Bulldogs’ 9.

House and Eastin with 14 points apiece and Brenden Cook with 13 were top scorers.

The Panthers will play in the Edgewood Tournament Nov. 30 through Dec. 2.
