Quinlan Ford de-sting Ferris Yellowjackets

 

Panthers regain lead only to lose to Pirates

 

The Quinlan Ford varsity Panther basketball team took the sting out of the Ferris Yellowjackets Tuesday night with a 58-40 win, according to Assistant Coach Matt Wingo.

The Panthers jumped out to an 18-8 lead in the first quarter and outscored the Yellowjackets 15-11 in the second for a halftime score of Quinlan 33, Ferris 19.

Quinlan scored 16 in the third to Ferris’ 6 to further widen the gap to 49-25. Quinlan scored 9 in the fourth to Ferris’ 15.

Preston House scored 16 points in the win to lead scoring. Ryan Korinek was right behind with his 15-point contribution.

On Friday, the Panthers regained the lead they had early over the Crandall Pirates only to lose in the final quarter.

The Panthers led 16-9 after the first quarter but trailed by 2 points at halftime after scoring 7 points in the second to the Pirates’ 16 for a score of 23-25.

Quinlan regained the lead in the third quarter, scoring 10 points to Crandall’s 6 for a score of 33-31. The lead was lost in the final stanza as the Panthers scored 5 to the Pirates’ 10.

Ryan Korinek led scoring for Quinlan with 19 points. Preston House added his double-digit total of 10 points.

The Panthers will host the Community Braves tonight (Friday.)  The junior varsity game begins at 5 p.m., followed by the ninth grade at 6:15 and varsity at 7:30.
