Lady Panthers win Bi-District, advance to Area

The Quinlan Ford Lady Panthers varsity basketball team won the Bi-District championship Tuesday night with a 41-38 win over the Anna Coyotes.

With the Bi-District victory, Girls Athletic Coordinator and Head Girls Basketball Coach Jason Wallen said Quinlan Ford would play Sanger tonight (Friday) at 7 in the next playoff game, which will be for the Area title. Wallen said the game is tentatively set to be played at Princeton High School.

Coach Wallen said, “We played a pretty flawless first half. We established what we wanted to do on offense early and built a good lead. The second half they threw a different look at us and we panicked a bit. However, our kids settled down and made some plays in the fourth. Now, on to the next round.”

The Lady Panthers outscored the Coyotes 21 to 9 in the first quarter and added 9 more in the second to the Coyotes’ 7 for a halftime score of 30-16.

Quinlan went scoreless in the third, while Anna scored 10, but came back in the final period to score 11 to Anna’s 12.

Madison Harrison led scoring with 11 points.

Jazzmen Beierschmitt scored in double digits with 10; Ashley Todd, 8; Allysen Warden, 7; Ariel Forsyth, 3; and Bree House, 2.
