Darrell Smith 1952-2018

On Feb. 8, 2018 Darrell Smith, 66, of West Tawakoni, a loving brother, father and PopDad closed life on this Earth.

He is survived by his sister, Loy Love; brother, Dan Smith; daughter, Kila Archer; and grandchildren, Maylyn and Cole Archer.

Hel moved from Cyril, Okla. to Irving in the early 70's in hopes to make a better life in a bigger city.

He took a job sweeping floors at Bryan Tower in Dallas. A few years later, he became the building Maintenance Superintendent.

In 1979, he decided to start his own business, Commercial Construction Specialties (CCS) doing commercial cabinets and millwork.

After two years, his company outgrew the shop behind his house and he decided to purchase some property in a then small town named Rockwall.

He continued this business until he "retired" at age 50, four days before his 51st birthday. He had a deep love for anything with an engine.

On a sunny day, he was often seen around town wearing some sort of a crazy print shirt and driving with the top down in one of his many cars.

At age 59, he became a PopDad and loved to spend time with his grandkids. He had a sort of magic with his endeavors.

He was always thinking a different way to make something out of nothing. With a kind and tender heart, he was always helping someone in need.

Please join his family and friends for a memorial service to be held at Ingram Funeral home at 10:30 a.m. on March 3, 2018 followed by a fish fry at Foxhole Bar and Grill.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Quinlan Ford High School Darrell Smith Vocational Scholarship can be made at Foxhole, Ingram Funeral Home, and QISD.
