Chamber auctions disco style

“Welcome Aboard, Let’s Disco” was the theme and set an upbeat tempo for Friday night’s third annual Auction on the Lake fundraiser for the Lake Tawakoni Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The event was held at Peninsula Ranch and Lodge. The buffet dinner was catered by Sweet Water Grill.

Many of the chamber’s directors, ambassadors and attendees dressed in the disco style with big hair, sparkles, polyester and platform shoes.

Chamber Executive Director Lynn Simmons welcomed the capacity crowd. President Daniel Earls recognized Mary Hall for her five years of service to the chamber and announced her resignation as Office Administrator.

Simmons said Tuesday of the event, “It was a great auction, house was sold out in advance of the event, more sponsors than prior years with lots of money raised. It was a huge success and tons of fun.”

She said the total amount raised at the auction would be reviewed and approved by board of directors before it was released.

Other officers include Vice President Kent Layton, Treasurer Roxanne Turner and Secretary Teresa Snyder.

Directors are Dr. Gene Hamil, Adam Slaughter, Tiffony Upchurch Chapman, Dr. Debra Crosby, Rita Moon, Pamela Vicars, Robin Myers and Sonny Upchurch.

Silent and live auctions were held with a large amount of merchandise sold.
