New Signal Lights coming to Quinlan

Texas Department of Transportation officials announced that work on two new traffic signals in Hunt County would begin Sept. 4.

Texas Traffic Control Systems Inc. was granted 60 working days, weather permitting, to complete this project valued at more than $327,000.

The new signal lights will be installed at the intersection of FM 1570 and Traders Road, and at the intersection of SH 34 and FM 2101, officials said.

Phased construction will be employed on both projects, to maintain traffic movements and minimize lane closures. Motorists who travel frequently in these areas are advised to remain alert for the presence of work zones in both locations beginning Sept. 4.

TxDOT officials also asked that motorists pay special attention to all signs, barricades and traffic controls, and reduce their speed as they approach and travel cautiously through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
